I know Dan Radcliffe and Dane DeHaan are grown men, and grown men typically don’t like to be referred to as cute or adorable, but then they really shouldn’t give interviews like this, or finish one another’s sentences.
Dan and Dane spoke to Buzzfeed’s Adam B. Vary about the friendship that has grown from their first meeting during Dane’s audition for the role of Lucien Carr. Both of them were left with a favourable impression of the other, and that laid the foundation for building a relationship that would carry over to their characters.
Dane said, “You can learn a lot about a person from working with them, and how they work, and the conversations that come up because of what you’re working on. So in many ways, as we were working, we were still also getting to know each other as people.”
Dan agrees. “It’s just that great thing of when you actually meet someone for the first time and you talk about the way you want to work, and you are open with each other. I suppose that’s the effort you have to make. Because when you sign up [for a movie], you don’t have to sign up to, like, get to know somebody and being really open with them about stuff. But when you work with people who are willing to do that and go there with you then it really can be a very bonding thing as well good for the job.”
