Dan credits writer Martin McDonagh as the reason he wanted to revive the role of Billy, saying:
“He’s one of the smartest, funniest, writers around. The way he mixes comedy and darkness, particularly in this play I feel, is amazing. Our play is brutal; people are saying things to my character and about my character that make you go ‘Oh God, that’s awful!’ and then, just moments later, he will have you in hysterics laughing at something.“
When asked what he finds so attractive about New York, Dan comments:
“I’ve done a lot of theater here, and I’m known not just for the Harry Potter stuff but that, too. I enjoy that aspect of it. Occasionally people will ask for a picture but it’s an easy town to be well known in.”
And choosing between New York or London?:
“It’s very difficult, because one will always be my home and where I grew up. But, I do love being able to spend as much time as I do in NYC. Hopefully I’ll never actually have to make the choice!”
