Dan has signed to star in Brooklyn Bridge, the story of Washington Roebling, the “brilliant but inexperienced engineer” who takes over construction of the Brooklyn bridge when his father dies. Roebling’s obsession with the project endangers his health and his family, until he finds an unlikely ally in the form of his wife.
Directed and scripted by Douglas McGrath and produced by Killer Films (responsible for Kill Your Darlings), Brooklyn Bridge is set to start filming this August, once Dan has finished the Broadway run of The Cripple of Inishmaan.
Dan took part in a table read for the film back in 2010, opposite actress Lily Rabe. As of yet, there is no other casting news, but it is expected to follow soon, as the film will be sold during next month’s European Film Market.
With Dan also attached to play Sebastian Coe in Gold and Jake Adelstein in Tokyo Vice, and his films Horns and The F Word due for release, 2014 is shaping up to be a very busy and exciting year indeed.
Following a critically acclaimed West End run of The Cripple of Inishmaan, Dan and the original West End cast will be starring in the Broadway transfer of the play this spring.
The play will open in previews at The Cort theatre on 12th April, with opening night on 20th April, running through to 20th July. Tickets will be on sale at telecharge.com tomorrow from 10am. Much like the London run, over 10,000 heavily discounted tickets will be available, at $27.
You can find more information about the play at its official website, http://www.crippleofinishmaan.com/
Congratulations to Dan and his fellow cast mates!
This news means that production on Gold, the Seb Coe biopic, has been pushed back, along with Tokyo Vice. As soon as we have any news on this, we’ll let you know.
2013 was a busy year for Dan, and 2014 is already showing signs of being much the same.
