HP, IMAX, Fort Lauderdale : A Harry Potter Celebration

Fans started trickling into the Museum of Discovery and Science early, as we were getting setup for the event that started at 2pm. I displayed all the prizes on one table, along with a guestbook for people to sign in, and both massively huge cakes on the other table. Fans signed the guestbook and the birthday card to JK Rowling and chatted amongst one another while waiting for the distribution of cake to commence. Finally we started serving everyone ... and one of the fans there, Sheena, was kind enough to help out.

After everyone had their cake, it was time to start the Trivia Contest. There was a large amount of participants for the Trivia Contest. You can see photos from this in the album below. I gave out high-res glossy prints of Daniel from the New York Premiere that were taken by DanRadcliffe.com for the fans who got all of the Dan trivia correct, the fans that got the general Harry Potter trivia correct received HP Crackers from the UK. The questions we asked fans, along with the answers (in bold) and the Trivia Prize winners can be seen below :

Once the Trivia Contest wrapped up, it was time to prepare for the HP Costume Contest. There were 11 prizes in all. I only wish we could have handed out prizes to everyone! We separated the contestants into two groups : Adults (16+) and Kids (15-). There were many great costumes, and some very clever ensembles, but in the end we could only pick 11. It was hard to pick, especially among the children, who were all wonderful! The prizes we had for this contest were : 2 family packs to the Museum of Science and Technology and IMAX Movie passes, a wand from Alivan's, a Gryffindor tie, 4 sets of the Knightbus Legos, 2 pair of Harry Potter glasses, and one photo of the trio that was pre-printed with their signatures.

FL IMAX HP Birthday Bash Photo Album

Thanks very much to all of the fans who attended the event (over 300), and thanks very much to Heidi from TLC, it was great fun co-hosting this event with you! I hope everyone there had a great time. I really enjoyed meeting all the fans, everyone was really fantastic! The POA movie on the IMAX screen was fabulous ... it was a totally different experience than that of the general screen. If you can, you should go see POA one ... more ... time ... BUT at an IMAX theatre if possible.
