As Harry's 17th birthday (and wizarding adulthood) approaches, Lord Voldemort's power is on the rise and his followers and influence are everywhere.  Unable to return to Hogwarts, Harry, accompanied by Ron and Hermione, sets off on the quest set for him by Dumbledore - to find and destroy the Horcruxes, which contain portions of Voldemort's soul. But their quest is fraught with danger as they try to avoid the attentions of both the Death Eaters and the Ministry of Magic, uncover some disturbing secrets about Dumbledore's past and resolve the mystery of the "Deathly Hallows".  The scene is set for a final showdown in which the prophecy that links Voldemort and Harry must be resolved once and for all: "...neither can live while the other survives."
