Kill Your Darlings

Daniel Radcliffe is Allen Ginsberg in Kill Your Darlings, released 2013.

For young Allen Ginsberg, a scholarship to Columbia University is a way out of his stifling home life, and a chance to discover what he has to offer the world beyond his role as dutiful son.

When he meets his charismatic fellow student, Lucien Carr, Allen is drawn into a hedonistic world of drugs, alcohol, and poetry, falling in love with Lucien along the way. Allen, shy and inexperienced, begins to find his place in life and tests society’s restrictive boundaries as he discovers his voice and his sexuality.

A love story, a murder mystery, and an exploration of how the beat generation formed, Kill Your Darlings premiered to rave reviews at Sundance 2013, Venice Days 2013, and TIFF 2013, and was released in US cinemas on 16th October 2013.

Kill Your Darlings won Best International Film at the 2013 Venice Days film festival.
