First reviews of Kill Your Darlings

Kill Your Darlings, the beat-era biopic in which Dan plays a young Allen Ginsberg, premiered at Sundance yesterday, and by all accounts was generally very well received. As the very talented Dane DeHaan put it: “We Killed em, Darlings. #KillYourDarlings @SundanceFest #luciencarr #allenginsberg #jackkerouac #williamburroughs #johnkrokidas”

Reviews are now appearing online, and all are positive about Dan’s performance in the film, even if the reviewer didn’t particularly enjoy the film itself (and those reviews are in the minority).

Reviews are listed below, and as many of them contain spoilers about the plot of the film, keep that in mind if you’d prefer not to know plot points.

The Hollywood Reporter | Variety | The Independent | Hollywood.com | The Wrap | The Salt Lake Tribune | The Playlist | Collider | First Showing | Film.com | The Guardian | HitFix | Examiner | BadAss Digest | Movie City News | Flixist | Awards Circuit | Screen Daily | Zap2it | Moviefone | Scene Stealers | Film Ledger | Hard News Cafe | Sound on Sight | Quip Mag | Cinema Blend | The Film Stage

Further reviews will be added to this post as they are released.

John Krokidas, Dan, and his fellow castmates spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about making the film. Video is below.

And EW have uploaded an interview with the cast. You can watch it below.

And another video too. The interview is very interesting and also funny, IMHO:

    Dan looks tired but happy;)

Thank you! That’s the LA Times video I linked to.

I’m sorry, Emma, I would undo it. I’ve seen that the video was downloaded in a minute after I’ve sent the link. But we can’t remove our texts.

“Don’t forget Dan”, right? Even if I heard it wrong, it could be said, anyway. The moment, I’ve just rolled out of my chair, splitting my sides laughing:D
The whole gang is absolutely amazing.:) Genuine successors of Beat Generation.

And also I suppose that in this case the spoilers are even useful. Every single one, who is eager to be educated, enlightened person, must know this story. IMHO, of course.:)

I think Ben says “don’t forget that”, in a sarcastic way, refering to his role in X-Men. The end of the interview is really funny.
It’s crazy how happy it makes me to read all these great reviews! :D

        Thank you, guest! :)
Just look, what lack of awareness, which is usual for natives, can do!:D
Sadly, my supposed joke would be good. Interviewer did not mention Dan’s name when he talked about Potter, so, Ben (in my version of remark) could hint some other member of this cast played Harry.;)
I totally agree with you on your point about reading of articles. Dozens of the nicest words and so many of them about Dan. Magnificent feeling.

There is also a very fun interview with the cast on the Entertainment Weekly website.
Go to the Sundance section and then the video section. :)

    • Emma

Thank you, I’ll see if I can grab it.

I’m sorry, but I think that’s something that can only be controlled by individual users, but I’ll take a look.
