Daniel's Picks for this Years Upcoming Movie Award Ceremonies

Posted by jenna on 31/01/06

Thanks very much to staffer Tracey for letting us know about the mini-article regarding Daniel on ITN. Representatives from ITN briefly chatted with Dan about his top cinematic picks for 2005 after the South Bank Show Awards. From the article:

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has tipped the film Capote to win big at this year's awards ceremonies.

He also singled out The Constant Gardener as the other film he has enjoyed most this year.

“It's between those two, for me,” he said.

Daniel said he was looking forward to dusting down his suit for the many award ceremonies, including the Oscars in March.

He added, unsurprisingly, that he thought Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire should win everything it is nominated for.

UPDATE: After speaking with Dan's representative this morning I should point out that the article is a little misleading. Dan will not be attending the Oscars, or any other award ceremony, this year due to his filming schedule.

Valentine's Day Projects Reminder

Work on the Valentine's day project for Dan is well underway!!

We are now getting the Greatest Fans Hall of Fame(GFHoF) Album caught up. Between now and February 9th you can send in your picture for the Greatest Fans Hall of Fame and we will add your photo to our Valentine Day Update for Dan to see. He will have a special link to look over all the photos sent in and you will be able to see them too! Almost 500 photos have already been received, so make sure you get your photo in ASAP!!

When you send in your photo please keep this in mind:

  • Filenames should not have any spaces or special characters in them (ie. !@#$%^&-). It sould consist of letters or numbers only.
  • The best format would be: firstname_country.jpg
  • File format should be .jpg, but we will convert if we can. Keep in mind, it takes a lot longer to do the album if we have to rename and convert all the files.
  • Please make sure your photo isn't inappropriate – it will not be used.

If you have sent in a photo already to us please don't send another as we have a bunch that need to be uploaded. They will all be posted for Valentine's Day!! Please send GFHoF submissions to Coralie.

DanRadcliffe.com is also doing a special Valentine's day DR Mini-Cast just for DanRadcliffe.com Readers to Dan for him to listen to. This will be in addition to the REDcast released on the 14th. If you would like your V-day wish to be included in the TOP 25 (most unique and interesting… respectable… yada yada yada will be chosen) then you can Skype the user redcast2006 and leave a voicemail or you can call 1-954-840-3875 and leave a voicemail. Two of the absolute best will be used on the REDcast as well.

Remember!!- The deadline to send in your voicemail is February 9th.

For more information on Skype and how to leave a message or use Skype, please visit the REDcast FAQ page.

Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson Autographs in Charity Auction

Posted by allo on 24/01/06

Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson are just two of the many celebrities whose autographs appear in the Today Show 2005 Green Room Book which is being auctioned off to benefit the Lupus Foundation of America. The Green Room Book contains signatures, doodles and notes from guests who appeared on NBC's Today Show throughout 2005, including Clint Eastwood, Bill Clinton, Nicole Kidman and Morgan Freeman. Dan and Emma were guests on the show in November 2005 while in New York to promote Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. This is the seventh year of the book auction, which has raised over $400,000 for various charities.

The auction is currently listed on eBay and will end on Thursday, Jan 26th, at 5:00PM PST. Click here to see the listing. However, before you start reaching for your credit card, be warned that bidding is already in the stratosphere (over US$8000) so this one's for serious collectors only!

A full list of guest signatures is available courtesy of auction agency Kompolt. Dan is listed under the week of November 7th and Emma under November 14th. Thanks to The Leaky Cauldron for the tip.

UPDATE: The auction is now closed and the winning bid was a mighty US$34,107!!! huh.gif

Valentine's Day Projects

Posted by jenna on 22/01/06

It's time for us to start working on our Valentine's Day project for Dan. This year things should be a lot easier for both the readers and myself… (I just don't have the spare change in time to do a hand-made pressie this year – sorry – my studies have me strapped right now.)

First, I am finally getting the GFHoF Album caught up with staffer Coralie's help. Between now and February 9th you can send in your picture for the Greatest Fans Hall of Fame and we will add your photo to our Valentine Day Update for Dan to see. He will have a special link to look over all the photos sent in and you will be able to see them too! When you send in your photo please keep this in mind:

– Filenames should not have any spaces or special characters in them (ie. !@#$%^&*.-). It should consist of letters or numbers only. The best format would be: firstname_country.jpg File format should be .jpg, but we will convert if we can. Keep in mind, it takes a lot longer to do the album if we have to rename and convert all the files. And – please make sure your photo isn't inappropriate – it will not be used.

– If you have sent in a photo already to us please don't send another as we have a bunch that need to be uploaded. They will all be posted for Valentine's Day.

Please send GFHoF submissions to Coralie.

Another thing we are doing for V-day is a special DR Mini-Cast just for DanRadcliffe.com Readers to Dan for him to listen to. This will be in addition to the REDcast for our readers. The deadline to send in your voicemail is February 9th.

Daniel Radcliffe One of MTV's Wild-Card Oscar Nominees

Posted by jenna on 21/01/06

Instead of selecting the all-encompassing status quo, MTV has kicked things up a notch and tossed out a few fun wild-card nominees (and categories) that might just put a little spring into Oscar's step (well… one can only hope).

Daniel has been nominated in a new category ordained by MTV: Best Performance by a Hormonally Confused Teen. You can view MTV's synop HERE. Evidently they were all impressed by the “sweaty palms, nervous laughter and bumbling hilarity” that arose while “Harry, Hermione and Ron came to grips with their budding sexuality.”

Thanks very much to Phoebe for the tip!

Videos: Dan Speaking Chinese

Posted by allo on 20/01/06

Not one but two videos have come to light today, both of which have Dan speaking a little Chinese!

The first is an anti-piracy message (Windows Media, 1.0MB) from China, circa Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, with Dan encouraging viewers to see the official release at the cinema rather than watching a bootleg copy. The snippet also has Emma trying to deliver a message in Chinese too! Thanks to EW.net for the tip. (I think the original video credit goes to Chinese site TOM.com.)

The second is an interview with Dan (Windows Media, 1.6MB) by Singapore Channel 5 TV from the international press junket for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The reporter presents Dan with a little gift engraved with his name in Chinese, which he tries to pronounce. Rupert Grint also receives a similar gift. Many thanks to Dan Radcliffe Online for the clip.

Daniel Radcliffe Thanks Fans

Posted by jenna on 16/01/06

Daniel has just recently returned home from Australia and was completely chuffed to find out the amount raised (around £4,000) for Demelza House this past Christmas in 2005.

Letter from Dan:

“A huge “thank you” to everyone who contributed to the Demelza House Christmas appeal. I was thrilled to discover how much money had been raised. As you know, every penny counts and makes a huge difference to the lives of these children and their families. It is a fantastic start to 2006! Happy New Year to you all and thank you once again.

Best wishes

DANIEL”

Newsletter from Daniel Radcliffe

Posted by jenna on 16/01/06

Reader Brittany sent us a scan of a recent newsletter sent to her from Daniel. Of course, as a courtesy to those that take the time to write in to him we never post the newsletter in its entirety, but we post little snippets to give the fans a little update. I will post the scan in the newsletter gallery once Dan starts sending out a new version.

A few points from the newsletter:

On the music front Dan has been listening to We Are Scientists, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Franz Ferdinand, the Rakes, and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

Among the various movies he has seen lately, one of the ones he really enjoyed was Crime and Punishment.

He further talks about his fantastic experience shooting December Boys (which is done now), how speechless he was over the attendance of the GOF premieres, and thanks everyone for their support and their generosity towards Demelza House in 2005.

A New Window Into Demelza House

Posted by jenna on 08/01/06

I have been working on a new mini-site that is part of DanRadcliffe.com for a few days now. It is completely dedicated to Dan's charity of choice, Demelza House Children's Hospice. Staffer David has been assisting me with it as well, so thanks very much to him!

In this new section we hope to bring you a great deal more information, photos, stories, fundraising ideas, past project appeals and thank yous from Daniel, video footage of Daniel talking about Demelza, donation information, and much more as it grows.

I hope you will enjoy this new feature as it really means a lot to all of us here. It is especially important to me. After having lost my own father to Leukemia, I can really appreciate this fantastic place. It is truly magical for all those fortunate enough to visit.

Please look over our current project while you look around. If you are a webmaster and would like to add a button or banner to your site to help support this fantastic charity please check out the sponsors page for information on how. smile.gif

Admin Note: Dan and the Internet

Posted by allo on 06/01/06

In response to an increasing number of emails, comments and topics in the Radnet Forums about Dan's presence on various networking web sites, we'd like to remind fans of a very important fact: Dan does NOT communicate with fans on the Internet. The following message is based on a recent post on the forums by one of our moderators, Megan (thanks, Megan!):

Dan has said before that he does not communicate with fans online. This includes, but is not limited to, Radnet, MySpace, Friendster, Xanga, Live Journal, chat rooms, Instant Messaging and emails. Dan talked about this in two of his past newsletters that he sends to those of us that write to him. Here is a link to one of the newsletters – Dan's newsletter, Feb 2003. Also, Dan answered a question in this newsletter about whether he talks to fans online or not. It is question number five – Dan's newsletter, Dec 2003.

So as you can see, if you have come across someone online claiming to be Dan, it’s not really Dan. Sadly there are some people out there that think it’s fun to impersonate celebrities. PLEASE do not be fooled by anyone online claiming to be Dan!

There is only one way to contact Dan, and that’s by sending him “snail mail” at his fan mail address. Everyone who writes to Dan receives a copy of his latest newsletter – that he himself writes – and a pre-signed photo. Also, for more information about Dan's fan mail arrangements, here is a link to a letter that Dan’s father sent to Jenna – Alan Radcliffe's letter to Jenna Oct. 2003.

Many thanks to Patricia and Fenna for information about a couple of polls where you can vote for Dan and GOF:

The Internet Movie Database (IMDB) is running a series of Best of 2005 polls as part of its Road to the Oscars 2006 coverage. You must register with IMDB before voting (registration is simple and free).

  • To vote for Dan, click on the link for “Best Work of 2005″, then enter “Daniel Radcliffe” in the “Best Actor” field and put Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in the next field. (You can also vote for your other favorite HP actors and director Mike Newell here.)[*]To vote for GOF, click on the link for “Best Movies of 2005″, then enter Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in the “Best Picture (English Language)” category. (You can also vote for it in other categories.)

At the time of posting, Dan is in second place in the Best Actor poll and GOF is in first place in the Best Picture Poll.

Dan is also nominated in the Dutch “Persoon van het Jaar 2006″ poll (Person of the Year). Click here to go to Dan's voting stats page and click on “Stem!” to vote for him. You will be required to enter your email address as part of the voting procedure – the poll will send you a confirmation email and you must click on the link in the email for your vote to be registered. At the time of posting, Dan is in 11th place in the overall Top 100 poll.

New Year's Resolutions and Wishes

Posted by jenna on 01/01/06

First – Happy New Year! 2005 proved to be a melting pot of vastly different experiences and I am happy that we were able to share all of the Dan-related ones with you!

Not only was I blessed with the most fantastic staff there is on the net, but I was doubly blessed with such excellent readers as yourselves! Dan and his family, along with Warner Bros, were a treasure to work with. I have been completely overwhelmed with their generosity and kindness this past year.

As one final fun project for the ACED Winter Edition, I would like you to send in your New Year's resolution to ME. The top 25 will be selected for publication in ACED for Dan to read. This is a quick one – deadline is tomorrow at midnight! Don't forget to include your first name and country! (Only one submission please!)
