New Changes on ACED Magazine's Online Site

Posted by jenna on 30/04/05

As you know we are calling for more writers and editors for ACED Magazine. Originally this project started out as something we printed up for Dan's birthday and Christmas pressies… but it has since grown into something larger than even we could have imagined – and I have been getting more and more demands for it.

Right now ACED Magazine is undergoing some slight changes to the online design (and will be over the next few weeks), as well as adding new features and staff to help support our growing demand in the teen and publicity markets.

We hope to turn many of the new writers and editors who have volunteered into permanent staff members on this site as writers and editors for ACED specifically. It's not just twice a year anymore – it's year round, every week: new reviews, features, etc. This is something Dan can go to and enjoy online without seeing anything written about himself, and still see what the fans are doing on his behalf not just twice a year – but ALL year.

I have added a new little feature on the left side bar of the DanRadcliffe.com page. It will change at LEAST once a week with a new featured review or article written by one of the fans (YOU, me, US). All you have to do is click on it and it will take you straight to the article's page. You can also browse the rest of the online site (which will be bursting with articles in the next few weeks) as you mosey on over there every once and a while. But what's so great about this online fanzine? YOU!

We already have many new writers and editors and graphic artists who have signed on – but there is ALWAYS room for more. Please, don't hestitate to ask about participating with ACED if you are interested in writing.

Just a quick note: After the first Fan ACED Project is over on Sunday at midnight EST, we will post up our next fan project. All of the specific Fan projects will not only be online but they will also be sent in the printed edition to Dan as well. We will try to vary the projects so there is something for everyone. smile1.gif

Thanks very much to Sue from TLC for letting us know there is a new issue of Xpose magazine featuring an article about fan fiction and its boundaries, or lack there of. For those of you who write fan fiction, or like to read about it this should be an interesting article for you.

I have also had a few tips from visitors that Dr.co.uk has reported about a new article in the UK magazine Starburst Issue #323. The scans online currently are too small to read so if anyone has some larger scans and can send those in, please E-Mail them to me, it will be greatly appreciated!

DanRadcliffe.com Reader Challenge – Can you survive without it?

Posted by jenna on 25/04/05

I will be writing a special feature article for the next edition of ACED coming out in July for Dan's birthday. This week is the International Turn Off TV week. We need 5 volunteers from our readership to “turn off their TV” for one week, starting Monday April 25th, lasting until Sunday, May 1st.

These five people will keep a daily journal for one week about the things they do instead of watching their favorite daily TV shows. Each will be interviewed and featured in the article itself submitted to Dan in the Summer Issue of ACED, so you must be willing to submit at least a headshot of yourself and must be at least 14 years of age – and you MUST be an avid TV watcher.

We want to see if you can actually go all week without watching TV, what you do if you don't, and how it affects your view on TV overall after this little experiment is over. And did I mention the Harry Potter participation prizes to those 5 people who do decide to volunteer?

UPDATE: Well that didn't take long! Please help me offer condolences, I mean congratulations, to our five victums, I mean volunteers, for this special ACED project :

Greg from the USA, Jamie from Australia, Natalia from Venezuela, Kaitlyn from the USA, and Jesse from Australia.

POA Coming to HBO in June

Posted by allo on 25/04/05

Thanks to reader Tanya for letting us know that HBO channel in the US has started announcing that it will begin showing Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban this June. The schedule is not yet available but we will add it to the DR-TV page as soon as we have the dates.

Also on the DR-TV page, we have some more dates for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets on Sky Movies in the UK (thanks, Tracey, for the tips!) and Canal+ in Spain.

ACED Magazine Reloaded

Posted by jenna on 23/04/05

As you know we do an issue of ACED Magazine in print twice a year – one for Dan's birthday and one for Christmas. It is now time to get started again on the printed and the online version full force.

I had put ACED on hold slightly due to the enormity of the 16th Birthday Video project, but as that is starting to slow down where I can start focusing on the editing of the video and less management of multiple groups – it's time to open the ACED projects back up.

First, it is important to note that ACED Magazine will be undergoing a major design change in the next few weeks. We will be adding new sections/features and changing things up a bit. There are a few new reviews up there now, and more coming.

Right now I am looking for people interested in being part of this aspect of Dan's 16th birthday project. If you like movies, DVDs, music, books, are good at drawing or web graphics, or if you just have a desire to just voice your opinion on topics you think are important for teens – then E-Mail Me and lets get you started!

This is a great way for those of you that did not get to assist in the video project to still be able to do something for Dan's birthday. (We didn't forget you guys either!) You do not have to know HTML, but if you did that would be fabulous as we could use a few permanent staff members as editors!

Don't forget – this is a proper magazine online so we work directly with studios like WB, Paramount, Universal … for movies as well as new albums. Sometimes we do get previews for movies and new albums – but you have to prove to me you are a reliable writer before you get those perks.

If you want to know what is expected in each review/article please E-Mail Me for more information. Anyone can write for ACED, no matter what your age, nationality, or location. All we ask is that you write clearly. We will give everyone guidelines as to what is expected in the reviews/articles to further aide you.

New Information on the ABC Broadcast

Posted by jenna on 20/04/05

Previously we reported about the ABC GOF First Look that will be taking place during the special Chamber of Secrets presentation on May 7th at 7pm. Warner Bros has also issued their own press release, complete with the ABC End Card:

ABC End Card

There had been a little confusion as to what would really be shown during the ABC broadcast, so after talking with a Warner Bros representative I can tell you that there WILL be a proper trailer shown during the ABC special. In addition to the trailer there will be other clips from the movie, behind-the-scenes footage, and Dan, Emma, and Rupert will host the show throughout the interstitials like in the previous ABC broadcast. They will be discussing Goblet of Fire, but they will not be discussing COS during the interstitials.

UPDATE : After going back and forth with Warner Bros, I have approval to announce that there will be a Theatrical Trailer for GOF released on May 13th in theaters.

UPDATE: And now I can officially confirm that yes, the GOF trailer will play before the film “Kicking and Screaming”.

Warner Bros' official press release can be read by clicking on the Full Story link below.

German Scan and Translation

Posted by jenna on 17/04/05

Thanks very much to Mira from DanRadcliffe.de for sending in a scan from the latest German Bravo magazine.

German Bravo Scan

Translation ::

During the shooting for the new Harry Potter movie, Daniel jumped 5 metres down. He admits: “I was really scared of this scene.”

Daniel Radcliffe takes a deep breath, takes a run and jumps off a rock 5 metres high – and he does this for the seventh time! This time Mike Newell (62), the director of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, is pleased – and leading actor Daniel is visibly proud of having done this scene without a stunt-double. But what for? “In the new film Harry begins to be interested in girls – he wants to impress them,” smiles Daniel.

In the meantime the fans of the wizard-in-training deal with an urgent question: Author Joanne K. Rowling (39) will let an important character die in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood-Prince – but who is it? It is not Harry…

Reminder for the LAST remaining fan meet-ups this Saturday and Sunday

Posted by jenna on 16/04/05

It has finally come to an end. This is the last weekend of fan meet-ups. (I know many of you are secretly cheering about not seeing anymore fan group meet-up posts!!! – Hey, I saw that!)

I, along with staffer Paola, who is visiting Florida from Ecuador, will be holding another meet-up in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale/Boca Raton area - we will be meeting on Saturday, April 16th, at 2pm at the Pompano Beach Pier (Click here for directions). I will have give-a-ways, a gift order for the HBP book for one lucky attendee, pizza will be ordered, and small fireworks. And yes, we have to toss my sorry bum back in the ocean as the footage from the last toss did not come out well enough. For more info about the meet-up send me an e-mail.

Staffers, Allo, Kim, Candie and Elizabeth, will also be conducting a very specialized meet-up in Hollywood, California, USA on Saturday, April 16th, at 3.00 pm. This meet-up will be filming a MAJOR scripted scene from the movie that needs a large number of participants. (And yes there will be elephants … LOL) There will be prizes and giveaways. You will meet at the Hollywood & Highland Mall. Go to the Babylon Court (the main open air plaza) under the Babylon Gate. Contact Allo for more information. Oh, and did I mention the ice cream cake???

Another scripted scene for the movie is being filmed in Albuquerque NM, USA at the Lynnwood Park on Sunday, April 17th, at 4.30pm. Please contact Katie for more information on that.

Other Saturday meet-ups include the following, please e-mail the project leader if you are planning to attend as some are bringing food and give-a-ways :

Philadelphia, PA USA :: unkist82591@yahoo.com”>Shauna
Santo Domingo, Republica Dominicana :: Alexandra

ABC will air First Look at GOF in May

Posted by allo on 14/04/05

The ABC television network in the US has announced that its special four-hour presentation of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, scheduled for Saturday May 7th at 7pm, will include an exclusive first look at the fourth HP movie, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. This will include clips from the film, a look behind the scenes and interviews with cast members, which will be shown during some of the commercial breaks. The format of the presentation sounds (our emphasis) similar to ABC's special presentation of …Sorcerer's Stone in May last year, which included an exclusive preview of footage from …Prisoner of Azkaban.

We will be doing some scripted scenes for the actual movie, as well as other scenes for the special features on the DVD. And yes, we have to toss my sorry bum back in the ocean as the footage from the last toss did not come out well enough. For more info about the meet-up send me an e-mail.

Scans from Russia

Thanks very much Alex and Rina for sending in scans from the Russian Magazine All Stars and a newspaper clipping from Panorama. The newspaper clipping talks about the first film. This article is taken from a TV programme and is devoted to the premiere of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone on Russian TV. It doesn`t contain any new material.

Panorama Scan

The scans from the All Stars Magazine are quite comical. Why do you ask? Well, in the article it says Dan interviewed the band Franz Ferdinand – but, according to a Warner Bros rep, he never did …

Viewers in Mexico can see an extended presentation of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, including the “deleted” scenes, this Sunday, April 10th, at 7:00PM on Canal 5. Thanks to Nallheli, Elaine and Violeta for the tips! …Philosopher's Stone will also be shown in New Zealand on Sunday April 17th at 7:00PM on TVNZ TV2.

Also, the DR-TV page has been updated with airdates for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets on Sky Movies in the UK (starting April 11th) and Canal+ in Spain (starting April 18th). And staffer Sabine tells us that Premiere Direkt (pay-per-view) in Germany will be showing …Prisoner of Azkaban again from April 21-27.

Sabine kindly sent over a little scan from Germany's TV-14 magazine with a snippet about Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The translation reads:

Mike Newell: “The fourth Potter is an excellent thriller – more exciting than ever.”
Wizard in training Harry experiences is biggest adventure – magic in a class by itself!
Mike Newell: “Harry´s new school year begins with his biggest challenge. At the Triwizard Tournament he starts off against the best European students of magic. But a dark force has a hand in it – and soon Harry has to fight for his life…” With 130 million dollars, director Newell created the most expensive Potter of all times. “This time there is pure high tension – and for the icing, there are wonderful subplots. The audience will be lost in amazement!”

New scans: Heat Magazine and Tiger Beat

Posted by on 07/04/05

On the funny side of things, the April 2005 edition of “Heat Magazine” features a little joke involving Dan, Ashton Kutcher, and Demi Moore.

Also, the April 2005 edition of “Tiger Beat” features a familar picture of the trio as well as a mention of Prisoner of Azkaban being the most mistake-cluttered movie of 2004. While MovieMistakes.com (no – they really have nothing better to do) lists the many mistakes, the one mistake that is mentioned in this magazine :: Emma being called her real name in one of the scenes :: is indeed false.

Thanks to Claire in the UK and Sarah from the United States!

SOTM Award

Posted by jenna on 04/04/05

Thanks very much to Joya from The Quibbler for honoring us with her Site of the Month Award. She did a mini interview with me, interviewed one of our readers, and DanRadcliffe.com was presented with this award.

Excerpt from the article ::

Since so many people know about DanRadcliffe.com, it's quite clear that popularity is a factor we considered when choosing them as our next site of the month, but that was not the only factor. DanRadcliffe.com has unique content based solely on Daniel Radcliffe, the muggle actor who breathed life into our very own Harry Potter. The site contains countless photo galleries with every known image of Daniel Radcliffe, biographies, filmographies, and amazing visitor interaction.

Visitor Faryal says, “DanRadcliffe.com is an awesome site, even if a muggle made it. It's constantly updated with the best news that's Harry and Dan related. Jenna's a great webmistress.”

Thank you very much Joya (and Faryal) we are all very humbled by your kind words!

Florida Meet-up – An Overview

Posted by jenna on 03/04/05

Today's meetup in Florida went really well. It was raining and the winds got up to 30 mph in gusts, and it was chilly – BUT – there were sixteen of us that toughed it out and managed to make our way through the wind and rain and finally had some sun.

We got some great footage and everyone walked away with prizes and food… And YES I was ambushed! First I was tackled to the ground and then they gathered about and threw me in the ocean … talk about being ALL wet! *sniff*

We were there for about 4 hours in total and I have over an hour of footage … the fans were great sports when it came to doing the tasks (mostly labor intensive, except the pie throwing and snack munching …). I hope everyone had as much fun as I did … and now I need my bed – too tired to move … A big thanks to all of you who came out today – you were really great!
