ADMIN :: 16th Birthday and Valentine's Day Project Updates

Posted by jenna on 31/01/05

I am happy to report the Valentine project has been completed and is now on its way to Dan. I did take some photos of it that I will post on the site once he has received it.

As far as the birthday project – I have received an overwhelming response from this last newsletter. I promise I will get to everyone as soon as I can, but please do not resend your e-mails more than once, that just adds to my inbox and will ultimately make my response time even slower.

I will be sending out another DanRadcliffe.com Birthday Newsletter soon, so if you are interested in participating now is the time to sign up as I will be communicating details through the newsletters – not through individual e-mail inquiries.

16th Birthday Project Update

Posted by jenna on 26/01/05

After sorting through over 6000 inquiries for the birthday project I have finally finished assigning all the Narrator and Scene roles for the script. Please DO NOT e-mail me. Everyone assigned roles has already been notified.

*** VERY IMPORTANT *** If you are one of the people who received an assignment from me – you have until tomorrow afternoon to confirm – otherwise I will reassign your role/narration to someone else. I have a folder full of people set aside just waiting for your parts – so best e-mail me back and let me know you are agreeing to your assignments ASAP!!!

For those of you who did not receive an e-mail – Don't Panic – there IS more to do for the film. On Friday, midnight EST, I will send out another DanRadcliffe.com Newsletter with more information regarding what else we need for the film. If you are not signed up now would be a good time to do it if you are interested in participating in the birthday project. Just enter your e-mail in the subscription field below the iFrame on this page and press “Subscribe”.

A special link will be supplied in the Newsletter for those interested in the remaining projects for the film. I will not accept e-mails about this before the Newsletter is sent out, so again, please do not e-mail me until after the details have been mailed out on Friday night, midnight EST. The Newsletter will contain all the information about the remaining assignments available – I will not respond to any prior inquiries.

quote:

"”They’re amazing. They are unbelievably professional and adorable. Yeah, it’s crazy, I know but yes, Daniel (Radcliffe) is just adorable. He loves music and they’re all a pleasure to work with.”"

16th Birthday Project Update

Posted by jenna on 23/01/05

OK – If I were to say I have received a lot of e-mails regarding Dan's 16th birthday project that would be a serious understatement. I have literally done nothing but reply to e-mails since yesterday. I am up to 4000+ now and they are continuing to come in.

In order to be able to reply to everyone who is interested in this project I am going to do things a little differently. I am very sorry for the inconvenience, but there is just no way I can reply to everyone individually and get to everyone. If you are interested in getting involved and receiving updates regarding Dan's 16th birthday you will need to sign up to the DanRadcliffe.com Newsletter. Scroll down to the subscriber field on the main DanRadcliffe.com page just below the news iframe to sign up.

If you are already signed up you will receive these updates automatically. Right now I am in the middle of sorting out scene assignments. An update will be mailed out to all subscribers tomorrow midnight EST. You have until then to sign up and receive the information and update via newsletter. Please do not send anymore e-mails regarding the project. If you want more information you MUST sign up for the newsletter.

Dan's 16th Birthday Project Unleashed

Posted by jenna on 22/01/05

Daniel Radcliffe turns 16 this year and we want to do something special for him with fans from all over the world.

DanRadcliffe.com will be producing a parody film of Dan's career over the past few years for Dan's birthday as a tribute to him. Fans will portray Dan at home, on the screen, behind the scenes, in interviews, and blooper out takes. I have written a proper script for the movie. There will be proper scenes and narration parts available for assignment as well.

For those of you interested in pursuing an acting career, or if you just want to have a little fun and contribute to Dan's birthday, this is the project for you! If you are interested in learning more about being a part of this production please sign up for the DanRadcliffe.com Newsletter, on the main site page, for the specifics – all you need is a video camera!

I will e-mail script assignments on a first come first serve basis. All scenes and narrations are very simple and short so you will not be required to do anything elaborate. Lines will be provided for you, as well as scene instruction. All you have to do is record your bit and then send it to me.

The point is to make him smile and laugh by bringing key points over the last few years to light through reenactments, performed by his fans, as a sort of mockumentary (satirical artform of factual events). The film will be a complete package once the production is finished – presented to Dan in a DVD case with DVD Cover Art and label as if he bought it in a proper store. There will also be special features to be revealed at a later date.

*** Bits of the film will be posted online after Dan receives it.

New Dan Newsletter

Posted by jenna on 20/01/05

Dan is sending out a new newsletter as of now. I am going to print more of this one than I usually do, but there will still be bits of it that I don't print for those of you who take the time to write to him. Here are some major highlights :

quote:

"I think we all start 2005 on a somber note. I, like everyone else in the world, could not believe my eyes as the terrible pictures emerged over the Christmas period from the Tsunami earthquake. My thoughts are with everyone who suffered and are still suffering from this disaster.

I would like to thank everyone who sent me (and my dogs!) Christmas cards. Many of the decorations that were sent were placed on our family tree and it definitely reflected the global nature of my fan mail—- as all countries were represented. The tree looked amazing!

Thank you, also, to everyone who contributed to my Demelza House appeal through the brilliant websites Danradcliffe.com and Danradcliffe.co.uk. I loved hearing about the various projects that people carried out and the money raised. I know everyone at Demelza House values the time and effort shown for this special hospice.
"

Dan viewed a few movies since his last update : VERA DRAKE, DEAD MAN'S SHOES, and THE INCREDIBLES.

And his latest music : DEVENDRA BANHART, GANG OF FOUR, JOANNE NEWSOME, THE FUTUREHEADS and BRITISH SEA POWER.

Dan is also working hard to study for his upcoming exams and filming at the moment so wish him luck! Again, I will post this newsletter in full once a new newsletter is distributed to the fans, but this is a lot of it. Thanks to staffer Rose Mari for getting this to us!

Dan goes for a Spin – in SPIN Magazine

Posted by jenna on 20/01/05

According to Dr.com reader Jessica, the February 2005 issue of SPIN Magazine has a section called “British Rock” (pg. 73), and under the band Bloc Party, it says:

Hogwarts School of Rock

Harry Potter's Daniel Radcliffe has declared Bloc Party his favorite band and allegedly wore their T-shirt under his costume in some scenes of the last movie. “I know he's a fan 'cause he sent us an e-mail,” says singer Kele Okereke. “He listens to good music!”

NOTE :: I want to point out that it could have been anyone that sent them an e-mail saying they were Dan (imposters are everywhere on the net), so take that with a grain of salt … but Dan does like the band, that I do know …

Thanks for the tip Jessica!

Valentine's Project Update

Posted by jenna on 20/01/05

I am now up to 300+ submissions for the Vday project. I started getting massive stacks of mail in the post yesterday, and I imagine that will continue on for the next few days as well.

Please, I know many of you are anxious to know if I have received your card via post but i can't possibly e-mail everyone about it. I will have scans of the book to post up on the site after Dan gets it so everyone can see the fantastic work the fans have done! Really, some of these are just amazing.

As of now, I will not be giving the postal address out for this project. Those that have been sent by today will be lucky to get to me on time; however, I will be accepting online submissions until 22 January.

If you want to make an online creation with a graphic program the card must be no larger than 216×216 pixels. You also have the option of sending an electronic card if you do not have the capability to make one yourself.

**** PLEASE DO NOT put pictures of Dan on your cards!!!! This is TO him. You can e-mail the online cards to me.

OOTP Director is Official

Posted by jenna on 19/01/05

Warner Bros issued a press release this morning regarding the Order of the Phoenix production. It is now official that David Yates will be directing the 5th installment of the Harry Potter series.

Yates is known for his award-winning short films, including earning a BAFTA nomination for his short Rank. Yates has become a prolific television director, helming the BBC’s BAFTA-lauded series The Young Visiters, State of Play, The Way We Live Now and The Sins.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix will be produced by David Heyman from a screenplay by Michael Goldenberg (Where the Wild Things Are, Peter Pan). Production on the film is expected to begin in England in January 2006.

There is no word yet about returning cast members, as it is still too early, but as soon as we hear something we will let you know. On that note, we all know that there is only one person to play Harry Potter, and that is Daniel.

Dutch Joepie Article

Posted by jenna on 16/01/05

E-W.net has a scan from the Dutch Magazine Joepie. They interview Emma and she is asked about Dan and Rupert :

Have you ever had feelings for Daniel Radcliffe or Rupert Grint ?

Emma : No, never. But Rupert and Daniel make me laugh. We had a good connection from the start. Thank God I'm a girl. I think sometimes, in a way, Dan spares me a bit (from his pranks). Most of the time Rupert is the victum. Those 2 are unbelievable. It woudn't surprise me if Rupert & Dan formed a comic duo.

There is a little bubble on the page of the scan that has some bits about Dan in it, but it is nothing new. Joepie Scan

Entertainment Weekly GOF Preview

Posted by jenna on 14/01/05

The January 21st issue of Entertainment Weekly has a small preview about GOF. None of the photos are different from anything we have seen so far, but there is a bit in the article with a small quote from Dan.

“He's faced giant snakes, ghastly Dementors, and the minions of the villainous Lord Voldemort. But teen love? Now there's a menace worthy of Harry Potter's mighty wand. “Hormones are indeed raging. It's like The O.C. here,” reports producer David Heyman from the set of Warner Bros.' fourth Potter film. Both Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) and pal Ron (Rupert Grint) start seeing the opposite sex in new ways. The plot has Harry in a tournament against other wizarding schools–our first real glimpse of the magical world outside Hogwarts–and bad things are happening, leading to the return of He Who Must Not Be Named (a.k.a. Voldemort, played by Ralph Fiennes). Succeeding Chris Columbus and Alfonso Cuaron as director is Mike Newell–and before you start saying What the bloody hell is the man who madeFour Weddings and a Funeral doing here?, remember: He made the well-regarded (if little-seen) kid adventure Into the West and the tense Donnie Brasco. “And he's British. We thoug ht it'd be fun to try that for once,” quips Heyman. Fans can also anticipate fire-breathing dragons, an underwater rescue, and a killer hedge maze–and we mean killer. “It's fantastic,” raves 15-year-old Radcliffe. “I can't wait to get the videogame for this one.”

Thanks very much to Sue from TLC for sending this over!

No Joy For POA at Awards

HP co-star Emma Watson was also up for Best Young Actress, which was won by Phantom of the Opera's Emmy Rossum. DR-TV: POA PPV and Award Show Watch

Posted by allo on 07/01/05

Check the DR-TV page for details of several new TV listings for Dan's movies beginning this coming weekend: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban opens on pay-per-view TV in the US today on DirecTV, Dish Network and iNDEMAND (check your local listings for showtimes or to see if your local PPV provider is carrying the movie too). There are also new listings for …Chamber of Secrets on Sky Movies 1 in the UK tomorrow (8th) and for …Philosopher's Stone in Scandinavia beginning tomorrow on the TV1000 channels.

Also, if you're in the US, look out for a couple of award shows happening on Sun 9th and Mon 10th. On Sunday at 9pm ET/PT on CBS, the 31st People's Choice Awards will be announced: Prisoner of Azkaban was nominated in the Favorite Sequel category and Gary Oldman (Sirius Black) was nominated in the Favorite Villain Movie Star category. And on Mon 10th at 8:00PM ET/PT on the WB network, the BFCA Critics' Choice Awards will be announced – Dan is nominated in the Best Young Actor category. (We haven't heard if he is expected to make any sort of appearance on this show though.)

UPDATE: DirecTV viewers can also look out for a special 20 minute FREEVIEW presentation running over this weekend which is a special “behind-the-scenes” look at Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban including some new footage. Many thanks to Tanya and Joy for the tips!

More Photos of the POA Set

Posted by jenna on 06/01/05

Back in July staffer Allo had the chance to go to the “Secret Life of Sets” in California and wrote up a fantastic report : Secret Life of Sets Report.

Just recently another of our staff, Coralie, managed to visit the tour in Toronto and her mother got some great unique photos from the displays. I thought I'd share these with everyone. smile1.gif
